Currently in CA but growing up in Louisiana, a state known as the “sportsman’s paradise”, our 1st fishing trip to Alaska was my husband’s dream trip. It was payback for taking me to Hawaii for my 50th. I tried to convince his dad to go in my place. That would have been a HUGE mistake. The first day on the water was cold and wet. I wondered how I would last the week. Funny, you’d think you know all about yourself by the time you are my age. Never in a million years would I have thought this trip would be the beginning of an annual vacation I look forward to all year. (My trip of a lifetime!) Out on the water, you truly experience Alaska. (Whales, eagles, dolphins, otters, seals) As the cruise ships pass in the distance I’m sure they look down on our little fishing boat feeling sorry for us, especially on a cold rainy day. I feel that way towards them. I wouldn’t trade my ride for theirs…ever. My biggest worry of the day is what color hoochie are the fish biting on? Doc has everything else covered, from the fishing gear, to the comfortable lodging, to the gourmet meals at the end of what is always a great day fishing. If you are lucky enough to bring home a freezer full of fish at the end of the trip, in Louisiana, that would be called Lagniappe. (a bonus or that little something extra) Just returned from our 6th year at Doc’s….See ya next year!!!
