Fishing Update – 2017 Week 8 (August 6 – August 12, 2017)

Super sunny week! As we leave the lodge the wetter weather has returned. It feels like summer was only 4 days long, Monday through Thursday, this year. Most guests had red faces and sunny dispositions.

With sunny days, the salmon went deeper and deeper. By Thursday, downriggers were down 50+ feet to find Silvers while Pinks remained on the surface. The South side of Pleasant Island remained good for Silvers as well as the usual places. It has been an incredible Silver run this year.

The tides were moderate and the halibut fishing was likewise. Most guests spent much more time fishing Salmon than halibut and the catch reflected those efforts. Regardless, we had quite a few nice halibut on the dock and into fish boxes.

Thanks for another great week at Doc’s. Space is filling fast for 2018; don’t wait to get in on the fun! I hope to see you “reel” soon! Mark

Below are what guests have been saying from last week. Enjoy the teasers.

“I’m not sure my favorite part of the trip. Probably the family ties that were strengthened as my father-in-law took his sons and son-in-laws on the trip. It was a good time for the men of the family to bond.” – Jed D.

“The staff was great about listening and taking care of our requests.” – Jerimy F.

“I would like to thank the kitchen staff. Making gluten free is a lot more work and it was done very well. I really appreciate all the extra effort and everyone looking to do whatever they can”. – Zak O.

“This is just a classy place” – Susan M.
