Fishing Update – 2017 Week 11 (August 27 – September 2, 2017)

What a week! This week brought a surprise every day. Going into the week we were super excited because the tides were moderate and there were great expectations of lots of fish. What we didn’t plan on was the stormy weather and wind on a few of the days. The guests were really appreciative of the new Stabi-Craft and how these boats made any weather flushable.

Silvers tapered a little this week. One would expect that though as there were three seine openings in the inlet this week. To chase Silvers guests moved over to the south side of Porpoise and Pleasant Islands. That did the trick and people did very well on those acrobatic fish. They were also catching bright pinks which is rare this time of year.

Halibut was actually more difficult than expected based on the small tides. The fish moved often but were found anyway. Friday was easily the best day and boxes were packed Saturday with nice fillets of white meat.

Only one more week of the season left and it has been a record year. We look forward to seeing you this winter at the shows and to see you next year at that special place we call Doc’s.

Keep fishing and see you “reel” soon.
