Fishing Update – Week 9 (August 7 – 13, 2016)

Rainy and stormy. Our guests this week earned their survivor pins. The weather forecast didn’t really change all week. Fortunately, the weather didn’t pay attention to the forecast. A couple of days were very windy and boats were rocking out in the strait. In close to camp the water was calmer. It did not seem to dampen the spirits as the various guests battled for their catch.

Halibut remains strong and plentiful. We had a few over 100 pounds and many in the good eating range. Hooking into some of those beauties made for good memories and good times.

Salmon continues to remain difficult. The runs this year are not what were predicted. This last week there was a commercial closure which will help our catch rates in the coming weeks. Having said that, our guests still brought in plenty of fish and some nice large silvers.

The season is passing so quickly it is hard to believe we only have four more fun weeks at Doc’s for 2016. 2017 and 2018 bookings are now available and space is quickly filling. Give us a call to get your next adventure planned.

I look forward to seeing you “reel” soon.
