Board the 56′ Adventure Bound or the 65′ Captain Cook for an unforgettable glacier and fjord cruise. Tracy Arm, a classic fjord, has it all- tidewater and elevated glaciers, breathtaking mountains and sheer rock walls that reach up over a mile high with waterfalls that tumble down to the emerald green water, and Alaska’s largest icebergs.

Watch for whales, bears, mountain goats, hundreds of harbor seals, and a variety of birds such as eagles, arctic terns, kittiwakes, and pigeon guillemots.

Our vessels have stable, smooth riding, ocean going hulls for the best cruise to Tracy Arm and Sawyer Glacier. A full walk-around deck and large cabin windows assure unobstructed views and great photo opportunities. Personal attention is unsurpassed.

Come experience the ultimate in Southeast Alaskan small town life with Alaska Fly ‘n’ Fish Charters. Butch will pick you up at Doc Warner’s and fly you off to the charming community of Tenakee Springs on Chichagof Island. Off the beaten tourist paths, Tenakee is where Alaskans go to get away from it all. The sulphur mineral springs in Tenakee Inlet were long known to the native people of Southeast Alaska. During the gold rush era miners and fishermen looking to winter over in Alaska began to gather here as well. Today Tenakee is a community of 100 or so people; fishermen, local retirees and assorted others who mostly live a subsistence lifestyle in this lovely laid back little corner of Alaska. Tenakee has no road access, and no real roads. The community clings to the shore of Tenakee Inlet along an approximately two mile “main street” which people travel by foot, bike or ATV. Community life is centered around the hot spring; a bath house built in the 1940’s, with separate men’s and women’s hours for use.

Tenakee Inlet is frequented by humpback whales which we will watch for on our flight. Once in town, spend a couple of hours strolling along the main street enjoying the quaint homes and lovely gardens and poking through the Snyder mercantile or the local bakery/gift shop. For clients who really want to stretch their legs they can hike along a beach path to the suspension bridge at the Indian River, a place to look for bears when the salmon are running.

Additional Information: Food is not provided on this tour. So, plan a stop at the Party Time Bakery where you can purchase coffee, pastries and a homemade lunch menu when open. They also have a nice selection of local gift items. Don’t overlook the Snyder Mercantile — an old fashioned country store that has been a Tenakee mainstay since 1899.

Stay at the James Beard award winning Gustavus Inn and sightsee Glacier Bay. The cruise departs from nearby Bartlett Cove and explores the rich upwelling of Mid Bay, pausing for Humpback, Minke and Orca whales. Seals, sea lions and the birds of the Marble Island bird rookeries add to the menagerie. As you head up the West Arm forests grow younger and the land rebounds from the release of the glaciers. From the rail or the warmth of the cabin watch mountain goats roaming the lichen covered slopes and moose and brown bear foraging along the beach tide line. The calving of icebergs off the mile long glacial face often is the highlight of your day.

The Gustavus Inn package includes two nights with all meals, all ground transfers and the day cruise of Glacier Bay. Many guests compliment their visit with a 3 1/2 hour whale watching cruise as well.

Soar over one of these natural wonders; experience renowned scenic fjords where tidewater glaciers tumble from the mountains to the sea, or an immense ice field from which glaciers are born.

Enjoy flight-seeing to one of Alaska’s premier destinations with a renowned naturalist and highly experienced pilot as your personal guide. Throughout the flight, Butch’s commentary will acquaint you with the area’s nature and history.

This is an amazing flight for families to share! There is no better way to experience the splendor!
