Fishing Update – 2019 Week 4 (July 7 – July 13, 2019)

Wow, what a week! The halibut are strong and the salmon are jumping everywhere. It was an amazing week to spend time with friends and family at Doc’s.

Weather started out hot and by midweek temperatures returned to normal. The last few weeks have been so warm that most of the mountain peaks no longer have snow. Now that the weather is cooled the fish are moving in with greater numbers.

We are pleasantly surprised with quantity and size of the halibut this year. The fish are aggressive, fat, and plentiful. The catch areas are diverse and fish can be found both near and far in the fishing area.

The salmon are now in stronger numbers after a slow start. Guests are catching many in the usual places. As we leave port back to Juneau on the catamaran, they seem to be jumping every 100 yards or so.

Thank you for another great week at Doc’s.
