2025 Weekly Updates

  • MM slash DD slash YYYY

Week 4 - July 6

Lots of fish, lots of rain, lots of happy guests, and lots full freezers.  The guests this week did very well.  The new season record notched up a few pounds on the halibut front.  Halibut in general have been steady and fat.

Salmon were in good quantity but were disrupted a few days due to passing weather.  When the winds picked up, the salmon quieted down.  The King salmon fishery closed on Monday for our guests.  The catch continues to build in pinks and silvers.  Both runs appear to be very healthy.

Weather this week was wet with temperatures on the cooler side.  We had periods of light winds.  Wednesday was probably the best day overall for weather.  Regardless, the amount of fish brought in each night to the dock continued to increase each day.

As you have come to expect.  It was another great week to spend at Doc’s.

Week 3 - June 29

Fish On! is probably the best way to describe this week.  The small storms that passed last weekend pushed the salmon in for our guests.  While a fair portion were made up of pinks, we continue to see good showings of chum and silvers and a few kings, including a white king.
Halibut also was well represented in the catch.  The big fish of the week went to Stephanie.  Not only did she join the 100# club, and beat Doc out of the big fish spot for the season, but she also got a Bigger-Than-Me club pin.
As we leave Doc’s today the waters are calm and the guests are tired from all the week’s action.  We invite all to come join us for a “reel” adventure. See you next time at that special place we call “Doc’s”!

Week 2 - June 22

Holy Halibut!  While super-sized fish are still few in number, the number of smaller fish has been impressive. It is common for a boat to catch and release 20 to 40 halibut a day.
Salmon have been slower in arriving.  The weather has been cooler so we aren’t surprised. Our historical data indicates that the pink salmon run is about a week behind normal as well. We had several nice Kings this week.  Silvers and chums have continued to be a bulk of the catch.
The cod supply was also in abundance this last week.  On the catamaran this morning guests were calling home and buying freezers … what a nice problem to have.
See you all reel soon!  ~ Doc’s Crew

Week 1 - June 15

Summer has arrived at Doc’s!  The first week of the season saw plenty of fish and good weather if you don’t count the microburst on Monday.  As we leave Doc’s this morning the clouds are burning off and we are looking at a nice weekend to get ready for week 2.
Salmon is starting off a little better than expected.  The first salmon of the season was a silver. Unusual, but we will take it. We have taken a few kings, chums and pinks as expected. This season is forecasted to be a great year for pinks and we have a few select openings if you want to squeeze us into your summer plans.
Most of the effort this week was looking for white fish.  Lots of Halibut and rock fish.  We are exploring new hot spots for halibut and hope to have more locations for you to fish as the summer goes on. Doc took a fish over 100#’s and holds the season record so far.  We expect our guests to best him soon.
Did you know?  The word Halibut is comes from roots for Holy Fish since it was originally only eaten during holy holidays.  Makes sense to us
