Moeller Family

Just prior to my dad catching his 130-pound fish, he did something we haven’t let him live down since. We were all in the water fishing for halibut. The current was running with incredible force, as there were 20-foot tides that week. We loaded up our poles with three large weights and even that wouldn’t keep them down. During that time, my dad hooked a fish that he was certain was the monster halibut he’d always tried to find. He forced us to reel up our lines so nothing could get in his way of landing this big fish. After 45 minutes of fighting this fish, it finally reached the boat. Much to his dismay, and our laughter, it was only a 10 or 15-pound fish. He had hooked it like a parachute and dragged it sideways through that incredibly strong current.
