Rich’s Fish Tale

It was a dark and stormy Thursday when the monster stuck!! My rod bent over like the Hunchback of Notre Dame.

I named her Elmira and said goodbye as she took off headed for the Bering Straight. She made a turn around the anchor rope as she steamed by. It seemed we might be hooked for life.

I stopped for lunch while she sulked in the silt. After we had each assessed the situation, I decided it was time to elevate her. Elmira went along with it for a short time. After which, she decided to return to the silt. 20 minutes of hard work for me was wasted in a few seconds.

After an hour and a half of give and take, it was time to invite Elmira to share our boat. I near suggested that I should point her nose toward the boat and she would flip her tail and jump right in. She said after the shark hook and baseball bat that she was too tired to help. Ken & I and Elmira ended up flopping around in the bottom of the boat.
